History

[edit]

This list of published issues shows a rather continuous publishing since 1922, with a new volume numbering starting in 1958. --Crusio (talk) 12:19, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is a handy page. In 1987 the title and volume listed is Volume 92-95 Geophysical Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society. In 1988 the name changes to - Geophysical Journal also Volume 92-95. In 1989 the journal aquires (reaquires) its current title - Geophysical Journal International with Volume 96-99. For one thing I will have to change volume 98 in the article to volume 96. I don't know why Library of Congress and CASSI list the changeover as volume 98. Especially, when the accurate information is so easily found - as you just did.
Regarding the current title, I suppose it is worth adding that the journal originally had this title from 1922 to 1957 into the article. ---- Steve Quinn (talk) 15:16, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also the changover occured with Volume 1, Issue 1 in January, 1989 (Volume 96) not July, 1989 (Volume 98).---- Steve Quinn (talk) 15:23, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, librarians are often overburdened, I think, explaining why the LoC's catalogs are not always up to date (I guess they have other priorities). CASSI should be different, especially because they (I think) work with info provided by publishers. But so does PubMed and it still lists G2B as "Genes, Brain, and Behavior" (with a superfluous comma after "brain")... Anyway, for things like this I almost always look first at the publishers pages, as libraries and databases too often give incorrect information. --Crusio (talk) 15:39, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • PS: I think that despite all the name changes, this journal existed since 1922, or at least 1958 (when they started with the current numbering). The publisher's page linked to above shows that they consider it a continuously published single journal. --Crusio (talk) 15:41, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree. Earler, I was thinking for the publication history to be 1922 to 1957, and then 1989 to present. However, since you have pointed out that the publisher considers it a continuously published single journal, and there is a continous numbering system since 1958, I have no problem for the publication history to be 1922 to present day. I see that you don't either so I will put that in the infobox. ----Steve Quinn (talk) 21:52, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That link was not dead. Nevertheless I've updated it to one at the current publisher. Modest Genius talk 16:04, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Changes suggested: Joerg Renner should be changed to Margarita Segou. The impact factor should be updated to 2022 figure both in the box and in the last sentence at the bottom of the abstract & indexing section. ....the journal has a 2022 impact factor of 2.8, ranking it 39 out of 87 journals in the category "Geochemistry & Geophysics" and a CiteScore of 5.9, ranking it 30 out of 154 in the category "Geophysics". The reference number 11 should be updated to 2022. Below Frequency in the box please will you add a new line: Open Access - Gold Open Access. LSB4edit (talk) 11:32, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
